Is Suricate a government service?
No. Suricate is an independent service published by Kanata Média. It is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Government of Canada. It relays notices published by official agencies.
Where do the recalls come from?
From public notices issued by Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Transport Canada.
Do I need to create an account?
No. No sign-up and no email address are required.
Is it free?
Yes. An optional donation is available in the app to support the project.
Can I choose which notifications I receive?
Yes. You choose the sources and risk levels, and you can turn everything off at any time in the app.
Does Suricate replace official notices?
No. Suricate helps you find out sooner. When in doubt, always check the official notice, which is linked in every recall.
When will the app be available?
Soon, on iPhone and Android.
How do I stop notifications?
In the app, open Alerts and turn off the notifications switch. You can also turn them off in your phone’s settings.
